A Day at Stormont for the Ireland v Afghanistan ODI

We were delighted to support Cricket Ireland as Ireland hosted Afghanistan in the final ODI of the series. Ireland posted an impressive 298/7, setting up an exciting contest before Afghanistan successfully chased the target to win by six wickets.

More Than Just Cricket

Throughout the day, members of the Fáilte Solar team joined Cricket Ireland in wearing pink as part of a quiet show of solidarity with the women and girls of Afghanistan.

The initiative reflected a shared belief that sport should be inclusive and that everyone deserves the opportunity to participate, learn and thrive. It was a simple gesture that highlighted the positive role sport can play in bringing people together and promoting opportunity for all. Cricket Ireland also described the initiative with the message: "Cricket is for everyone."

Presenting the Trophy

Following the match, members of the Fáilte Solar team had the honour of presenting the trophy to the Afghanistan men's team after the conclusion of the series.

While the day included an important message of inclusion through the pink initiative, it also celebrated international cricket at the highest level. We congratulate both teams for producing an entertaining match and thank everyone involved for creating a respectful and memorable occasion.

Building Partnerships Through Sport

Our partnership with Cricket Ireland is about more than supporting the game on the field. It is about helping create events that bring communities together, inspire the next generation and demonstrate the values of teamwork, respect and inclusion.

We are proud to stand alongside Cricket Ireland in supporting the growth of cricket across Ireland while continuing to champion initiatives that encourage opportunity for everyone.

Thank you to Cricket Ireland, the volunteers, supporters and everyone who made the day such a success. We look forward to many more memorable occasions together throughout the season.
