Four days, 1,135 miles, four major stops, a great deal of installer conversations, plenty of training, a few iconic Scottish landmarks and, inevitably, a kilt!!

The Highland Charge saw Matt hit the road with Fáilte Solar and Sigenergy, travelling across Scotland to meet installers face to face, deliver hands on training and showcase the latest Sigenergy products and technology.

But this wasn't your regular road trip with the very well equipped Sigenergy van. It was about getting Sigenergy directly in front of installers who have not made it to our trainings before, the installers working with solar, battery storage and smart energy solutions every day. Matt met with installers of UK Greentech and Edmundsons Electrical who currently install Signergy or are thinking of converting to Sigenergy.

The Highland Charge Begins

The journey started in Swadlincote before heading north towards Scotland, with the first major stop at The Kelpies in Falkirk.

With the Sigenergy demo van packed and ready, the mission was straightforward, get on the road, meet installers, provide training, answer questions and listen to what the market is actually asking for.

From Glasgow onwards, the Highland Charge would take in UK Greentech Glasgow, Inverness and Dundee, alongside Edmundson Electrical Aberdeen, with the journey taking Matt deep into the Scottish Highlands and back again.

The final result? 1,135 miles covered across four days.

Day 1: Glasgow | Getting the Charge Started

The first official stop was UK Greentech Glasgow, where the Sigenergy demo van made its debut.

Matt delivered two installer training sessions, giving installers the opportunity to get closer to the technology and understand how the system works in real world applications.

The conversations covered everything from solar and battery storage to EV charging and intelligent energy management.

The focus throughout the trip was on having proper conversations with installers answering the practical questions, discussing installation and commissioning, and understanding what they need from the products they are putting into customers' homes and businesses.

And there was already plenty of positive feedback around the simplicity of the system, its design and the commissioning process.

With Glasgow complete, the van was pointed north.

From Glasgow to the Highlands

Of course, if you're going to drive all the way through Scotland in a Sigenergy van, you can't spend the entire trip looking at motorways. The route took in Glencoe and Loch Ness, giving Matt the chance to capture some of Scotland's spectacular scenery along the way. There was even time for some important investigative work at Loch Ness. Unfortunately, Nessie remained unavailable for comment.

But the journey wasn't just about ticking off landmarks. These stops gave the Highland Charge its character and helped tell the story behind the road trip, bringing together the technology, the people and the places.

Day 2 | Real Highland Strength

Before heading to the next installer training sessions, Matt made a 6am visit to the Stoltman Strength Centre in Invergordon. These installer training trips need some serious energy and discussing the strength of energy storage systems wasn't enough. Matt needed to test some actual Highland strength!

From there Matt headed to UK Greentech Inverness. There, the Sigenergy demo van was once again put to work, with installer training sessions, product demonstrations, customer meetings and plenty of questions.

And this was one of the strongest recurring themes of the Highland Charge, installers wanted technology that was powerful, but not complicated. The conversations focused on giving installers the confidence to work with Sigenergy and understand how the system can fit into their projects.

There was also plenty of positive feedback around the system's simplicity, commissioning process and overall design. Click here. And when you're travelling through Scotland, there is one important piece of business that simply cannot be ignored. Trying on a traditional Scottish Kilt - Click Here. Matt stopped for a proper kilt fitting, ensuring the Highland Charge was fully committed to the Scottish experience.

Day 3 | Aberdeen and Installer Feedback

By day three, the miles were beginning to add up but all worth it! The next major stop was Edmundson Electrical Aberdeen, where Matt continued the installer training and product demonstrations.

Again, the focus was on the people in the room. What are installers using? What are their customers asking for? What makes a system easier to install? And, importantly, what makes installers confident enough to recommend and work with new technology? These conversations are incredibly valuable because they provide insight that you simply can't get from a product brochure.

During the Aberdeen stop, Matt also filmed promotional content around the Fáilte Solar UK SP2 bundle - Click Here, adding another piece of content to the ever-growing Highland Charge production schedule.

What Do Installers Actually Think of Sigenergy?

One of the most valuable parts of the Highland Charge was hearing directly from installers who have actually worked with the technology.

At CalTech, Matt caught up with the team during Sigenergy installer training and heard first hand why the system had made an impression. Click Here. Having previously installed Tesla systems, the team highlighted the straightforward commissioning process, intuitive setup and clear instructions. The takeaway was simple, sophisticated technology doesn't have to mean complicated installation.

This kind of feedback is exactly why getting out on the road matters. The Highland Charge wasn't about telling installers what they should think about Sigenergy. It was about showing them the technology, answering their questions and listening to what they thought themselves. As a company it is important that we are always learning too, to improve our operations, hear product feedback and grow as a company.

Day 4 | Dundee and the Final Charge

The final day took Matt to UK Greentech Dundee, where the training sessions continued and another group of installers had the opportunity to get hands on with Sigenergy.

Four days into the trip, the purpose of the journey had become pretty clear. Across Glasgow, Inverness, Aberdeen and Dundee, the team had spoken directly with installers about the future of solar, battery storage and intelligent energy.

There was strong interest in technology that can deliver more while keeping the installation and commissioning process straightforward.

Then, before heading home, there was one final Scottish landmark to visit. The Wallace Monument. A fitting place to pause, look back over the trip and take in the view before beginning the long journey south.

Four days | 1,135 miles | A lot of coffee | Several training sessions | A kilt | A strongman gym | Some haggis and tatties | And more installer conversations than you could probably fit into the Sigenergy van!

More Than Just a Road Trip

The Highland Charge was ultimately about much more than the miles.

It was about building relationships. It was about being there in person, meeting installers where they are, understanding the challenges they face and giving them the opportunity to see and experience Sigenergy technology for themselves.

For Fáilte Solar, these conversations are essential to building the next stage of its UK presence alongside Sigenergy. The Scottish market is moving quickly, and installers are looking for solutions that combine performance, intelligent energy management, flexibility and ease of installation.

The feedback from the road has been encouraging and the conversations are only beginning.

Thank You

A road trip of this scale doesn't happen without a lot of people making it possible.

A huge thank you to UK Greentech Scotland and the teams in Glasgow, Inverness and Dundee, and to Edmundson Electrical Aberdeen, for welcoming Matt and the Sigenergy van, supporting the training sessions and giving their time throughout the trip.

Thank you to every installer who attended, asked questions, shared their experiences and took the time to engage. Your feedback is one of the most valuable parts of the journey.

And thank you to everyone who helped make the journey memorable and who helped Matt experience a little more of Scotland along the way.

Most importantly, thank you to the teams of Fáilte Solar UK&IRE and Sigenergy who made the Highland Charge possible.

The Road Doesn't Stop Here

The Highland Charge may be over, but the journey is only getting started. The van is home. The miles are on the clock. The kilt is still in the shop! And the conversations with Scottish installers will continue.

1,135 miles down and plenty more to go. A journey worth continuing.
